Al-Wahdat’s Title Hopes Dashed in Goalless Draw against Al-Jalil
Al-Wahdat faced another disappointing result, ending in a goalless draw against Al-Jalil in the thirteenth round of the Jordanian Professional Football League. This outcome dimmed Al-Wahdat’s hopes of reclaiming the league title, leaving them in third place with 28 points, trailing behind the leader Al-Hussein Irbid by 9 points, while Al-Jalil moved up to ninth place with 10 points.
Despite efforts to bolster the offense with lineup changes, including fielding Moroccan Mohsen Al-Rabja and Mohamed Mawali, Al-Wahdat struggled to break down Al-Jalil’s defensive tactics aimed at securing a draw. Key players like Amer Jamous, Mohamed Mwale, and Christ Kovuma failed to spark offensive threat, leading to a lack of productivity.
As the first half concluded with no breakthrough, Al-Wahdat introduced Muhammad Abu Zureiq “Sharara” and Saleh Ratib in the second half to boost attacking options. Sharara unleashed a powerful long-range strike, met with a superb save by Galilee goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Kawamla.
Galilee forward Obaida Namarneh nearly capitalized on a defensive lapse from Al-Wahdat, only to be denied by goalkeeper Al-Fakhouri. Al-Wahdat’s poor concentration and urgency were evident, as they struggled to create significant chances throughout the match.
Despite late opportunities, including a missed chance by Sharara following a rebound, and a yellow card controversy, Al-Wahdat failed to find the breakthrough against Al-Jalil. The goalless draw dealt a significant blow to Al-Wahdat’s title ambitions in the Jordanian League, as they continue to falter in their pursuit of the championship.
