Odisha FC Secures Top Spot with Thrilling 2-1 Comeback Victory against East Bengal FC in ISL 2023-24!
Odisha FC continued their dominance at the top of the Indian Super League table with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over East Bengal FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The Kalinga Warriors managed to extend their unbeaten home run to 10 games with this crucial win, maintaining their lead in the standings.
The match started with a bang as East Bengal FC winger Vishnu Puthiya scored the fastest goal of the season, finding the back of the net in just the 33rd second of the game. However, Odisha FC didn’t let the early setback affect them as Diego Mauricio equalized from the penalty spot in the 40th minute after a foul on him in the box.
In the second half, Odisha FC found the winner through Princeton Rebello, who converted a corner kick delivery from Ahmed Jahouh in the 61st minute, securing all three points for his team. Jahouh’s assist also made him the second-highest assist maker in ISL history after Hugo Boumous.
Princeton Rebello was the standout performer of the match, completing 33 out of 37 passes with an accuracy of 89% and scoring the winning goal. His creativity and work rate in the attacking midfield role were vital for Odisha FC’s victory.
