Al-Gharafa Secures Victory with 4-1 Win Over Al-Duhail
Al-Gharafa bounced back with a commanding 4-1 victory over Al-Duhail in their latest match at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. Algerian star Yacine Brahimi shined with a hat-trick, scoring in the 14th, 55th, and 82nd minutes from a penalty kick, while Ferjani Sassi added another goal in the 64th minute. Al-Duhail’s lone goal came from Michael Olunga in the 20th minute.
This win propelled Al-Gharafa to second place with 30 points, capitalizing on Al Wakrah’s recent defeat to Al Markhiya. On the other hand, Al-Duhail remained at 18 points.
The game kicked off with a flurry of attacks, with both teams eager to find the back of the net. Al-Gharafa’s early pressure paid off when Brahimi netted a penalty, giving his side the lead in the 14th minute. However, Al-Duhail responded swiftly, leveling the score through Olunga in the 20th minute.
In the second half, Al-Gharafa came out strong, with Brahimi causing problems for Al-Duhail’s defense. The Algerian maestro scored his second goal from a free kick in the 55th minute, and Sassi extended the lead with a header in the 64th minute.
Despite Al-Duhail’s attempts to claw back into the game, a disallowed goal due to offside thwarted their efforts. Brahimi completed his hat-trick in the 82nd minute, sealing the victory for Al-Gharafa at 4-1.
Overall, it was a dominant display from Al-Gharafa, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive resilience. The result sees them climb the league standings, while Al-Duhail will need to regroup and bounce back from this defeat in the Expo Stars League.
