Exciting Hong Kong Talent Sun Ming-him Completes Transfer to Chinese Super League Club

Hong Kong football sensation Sun Ming-him has made a significant move to the Chinese Super League outfit Cangzhou Mighty Lions, bidding farewell to Eastern after a successful tenure. The 23-year-old standout caught the eye of mainland scouts following his impressive displays at last year’s Asian Games, particularly in an unfamiliar left-back role.

Sun’s versatility was on full display when he represented the Hong Kong senior team at the AFC Asian Cup in Qatar, showcasing his work ethic and adaptability under coach Jorn Andersen. Despite being primarily a forward, Sun proved himself by emerging as the top local scorer in the Hong Kong Premier League last season, netting an impressive 14 goals.

His stellar performances earned him recognition as one of the city’s top young players, alongside Eastern teammate Anson Wong Ho-chun. Sun’s final act for Eastern was a goal-scoring display in a 1-1 draw against Southern, marking the end of his successful chapter with the club.

Joining Cangzhou, based in Hebei province, Sun will undoubtedly add firepower to a team gearing up for the new CSL season under the guidance of manager Zhao Junzhe. The club made significant signings before the transfer deadline, securing talents like Brazilian forward Heber and Nigerian midfielder Viv Solomon-Otabor.

Sun will reunite with former Aston Villa defender Jores Okore and Kazakhstan international midfielder Georgiy Zhukov at the 32,000-capacity Cangzhou Stadium. The club, founded in 2011, is determined to improve on their previous 12th-place league finishes in the upcoming season.

The talented Hong Kong star is also set to join a growing contingent of his compatriots plying their trade in China. Teammates like Yue Tze-nam, Jacky Leung Nok-hang, and Matt Orr have already made their mark with various mainland clubs, showcasing the growing influence of Hong Kong players beyond their local league.

With Sun’s move to Cangzhou, the Hong Kong football community eagerly anticipates his continued success in the competitive Chinese Super League environment. His journey from a promising young talent to a sought-after asset in the CSL is a testament to his dedication and skill on the field.
