Thai League 3 side Bangkok FC shocks defending champions Buriram United with thrilling victory
Defending champions Buriram United were left reeling after a shocking 5-4 defeat to Thai League 3 side Bangkok FC in the Thai FA Cup at the 72nd Anniversary Stadium. Despite Buriram’s star-studded lineup, including Crispim and Doumbouya, it was Bangkok who struck first through Eydison. Crispim and Doumbouya then put Buriram ahead at halftime before Bangkok turned the tables in the second half.
Dudu Lima equalized early in the second half before scoring two more goals to complete his hat-trick. Doumbouya and Theerathon managed to pull Buriram level, but a late winner by Wachirawut sealed the Fire Bulls’ victory. The defeat marked the first time a Thai side had scored five goals against Buriram.
In other cup matches, PT Prachuap and Nakhon Pathom United were also knocked out, while Samut Sakhon City, True Bangkok United, Sukhothai FC, Dragon Pathumwan Kanchanaburi, and Udon United advanced in their respective ties. Bangkok FC’s triumph over Buriram will surely go down as one of the biggest upsets in Thai football history.
