Selangor FC Announces Resignation of Head Coach Tan Cheng Hoe
Selangor FC has bid farewell to their head coach, Tan Cheng Hoe, who has resigned from his position with immediate effect. The decision to part ways was made through mutual agreement between Tan Cheng Hoe and the club’s management after open discussions. The 55-year-old coach has decided to take on a new role as head coach at a club in Thailand, leading to the termination of his contract with Selangor FC. Compensation payments have been made based on the contractual agreement.
During Tan Cheng Hoe’s tenure since September 2022, Selangor FC achieved notable success, finishing as runners-up in the 2022 Malaysia Cup and the 2023 Malaysia Super League. Additionally, Selangor FC secured automatic qualification for the AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2) for the upcoming 2024/2025 season. The club expressed gratitude for Tan Cheng Hoe’s contributions and wished him well in his future endeavors.
In light of Tan Cheng Hoe’s departure, assistant coach Nidzam Jamil has been appointed as the interim head coach for Selangor FC. The club’s management will conduct a thorough selection process to identify a permanent head coach in the near future. Tan Cheng Hoe played a significant role in elevating Selangor FC’s football status on the Asian stage, with the team’s commendable performance in the 2023 Super League campaign, finishing as runners-up and securing a spot in the AFC Champions League 2 competition.
