Basic Sports Trainer Course (Refresher) Concludes with XX Participants in February 2024
The Football Science and Medicine (FSAM) Department recently wrapped up the Basic Sports Trainer Course (Refresher) in collaboration with Singapore Sports Medicine Center @ Changi General Hospital (SSMC @ CGH) and Singapore Sports Institute (SSI). The course, held at Jalan Besar Stadium on 1 February 2024, aimed to sharpen sports trainers’ skills in injury prevention and management.
Senior Principal Physiotherapist Elaine Gomez and Principal Physiotherapist Huma Kathiwala led the one-day program, covering common conditions, on-field skills, injury assessment, immediate management, and injury prevention principles. Practical applications, discussions, and scenario exercises were included to ensure participants could effectively apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.
Both theory and practical assessments were conducted at the course’s conclusion to evaluate each participant’s competency in injury prevention and management. The goal was to equip sports trainers with the necessary tools to excel in their roles.
In total, XX participants attended the course, underscoring the strong interest and commitment to enhancing skills within the sports training community. The course provided a valuable opportunity for professionals to stay updated on best practices and refine their techniques.
