Football Club Velež Finds New Defender in Iranian Player Aref Gholami
Velež, the football club from Mostar, has successfully secured a new defender to fill the void left by the departure of Brazilian player Bruno Oliveira to South Korea. The club has turned to Iranian player Aref Gholami as their latest addition to the team.
Gholami, a 26-year-old defender, is set to arrive in Mostar soon to undergo medical tests and finalize the contract with Velež. Having previously played for Iranian clubs such as Sepahan, Zob Ahan, Foolad, and Esteghlal, Gholami is now embarking on a new chapter in his career by joining the Bosnian and Herzegovinian team.
Although Gholami has only made one appearance for the senior national team of Iran, his experience extends to playing for various youth selections in his home country. Known for his popularity in Iran, Gholami boasts a substantial social media following with 1.1 million fans on Instagram.
While the exact date of Gholami’s debut for Velež remains uncertain, there is speculation that he may feature in the upcoming 20th round match against Borac, a highly anticipated derby scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. If Gholami does not make his debut in this fixture, fans will have to wait until March 2 when Velež faces off against Posušje in the following match.
With the arrival of Aref Gholami, Velež aims to strengthen their defensive line and fortify their squad for the challenges ahead. The anticipation is high as supporters eagerly await the debut of the Iranian defender in the blue and red colors of Rođeni. Stay tuned for updates on Gholami’s integration into the team and his contributions on the pitch in the upcoming matches.
