Expo Stars League Clubs’ Preparations and Updates Ahead of Resuming Competitions
The Expo Stars League clubs are gearing up for the return of competitions after a hiatus caused by the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar, where Al-Anabi emerged victorious. The tournament saw Al-Sadd leading the standings with 31 points, followed closely by Al Wakrah and Al Gharafa. Al Rayyan, Al Arabi, and Al-Duhail also maintained competitive positions in the league.
During the suspension period, teams utilized training and friendly matches to stay sharp. Al Sadd focused on intense training sessions in the absence of key players, while Al-Wakrah played multiple friendly matches to bolster their squad. Al-Gharafa also engaged in friendly matches and a closed camp to enhance their preparedness for the upcoming league fixtures.
Al Rayyan strengthened their squad with three new players and also participated in friendly matches. Al Arabi, on the other hand, concentrated on training and played a few friendly matches in preparation for resuming league activities. Al-Duhail participated in the Equality Cup tournament and added Brazilian defender Lucas Verissimo to their roster.
Umm Salal won the Urid Cup Championship and included Portuguese striker Lucas Joao. Qatar Club signed Ivorian Yohan Boly and defender Diab Haroun, while Al Ahly welcomed Uruguayan player Ramon Arias. Al-Shamal acquired Moroccan midfielder Younes Belhanda and loaned Jordanian player Ali Alwan to Al-Khor.
Muaither signed several players, including Jordanian defender Yazan Al-Arab and Brazilian Thiago Di Luanco. Al Markhiya made significant signings and played friendly matches to prepare for league matches. Despite the break, teams across the Expo Stars League have been actively enhancing their squads and readiness for the upcoming fixtures.
