Western United dealt big blow with fan favourite set to depart next week
Western United have confirmed that goalkeeper Hillary Beall will play her last Liberty A-League game for the club on Sunday before returning to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Beall, who was initially on loan from Racing Louisville, has now been traded to San Diego Wave, where she will compete for the number one jersey.
“Hillary has been an integral part of our journey in the Liberty A-League and we would like to thank her for her valued contributions across the club,” said Western United general manager of Football Mal Impiombato. “As a leader amongst the group, Hillary was integral in setting the foundations of our program off the field, while her performances on the field were crucial in helping us reach the Grand Final in our inaugural season.”
During her time at Western United, Beall received several accolades, including being named Player of the Season last term and Liberty A-League Goalkeeper of the Year. She was also voted into the PFA’s team of the season, received Player of the Month twice, and won the ‘Save of the Year’ trophy at the Dolan Warren awards night.
“On behalf of everyone at the club, I wish to thank Hillary for her time and efforts and wish her all the very best as she departs to pursue opportunities at home in San Diego,” Impiombato added.
Since returning to Western United earlier this season on loan, Beall has made 12 appearances and kept three clean sheets. Her last game for the club will be this Sunday’s home clash with Wellington Phoenix.
As Beall leaves, Western United has confirmed that they are actively seeking a replacement for the fan favourite goalkeeper.
Overall, Beall has been a standout player for Western United, contributing significantly to the team’s success. Her leadership qualities off the field and her performances on the field have been instrumental in helping the club reach the Grand Final in their inaugural season. Her departure will undoubtedly be a big blow to the team and the fans.
Western United will now have to find a suitable replacement for Beall in order to maintain their strong performance in the Liberty A-League. It will be a challenging task to fill her shoes and find a goalkeeper who can match her skills and influence on the team.
Despite the disappointment of Beall’s departure, Western United remains focused on their upcoming game against Wellington Phoenix. It will be an emotional match as the club bids farewell to Beall, but they will be determined to put on a strong performance and secure a win in her honor.
As Beall moves on to San Diego Wave in the NWSL, Western United wishes her all the best in her future endeavors. She has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the club and will be remembered as a fan favourite and a key contributor to the team’s success.
Western United’s fans will now eagerly await the announcement of a new goalkeeper to replace Beall. It will be interesting to see who the club chooses and how they will perform in the Liberty A-League. The team will need to quickly adapt and build a strong rapport with the new goalkeeper to maintain their position in the league.
